How to Earn Commission Selling Products Online in Kenya Using Your Phone
A practical guide to earning commission by following daily Trina Shoppy product opportunities and promoting them through WhatsApp and social media in Kenya.

A smartphone can be more than a communication tool. With consistent, honest promotion and good customer service, it can help someone introduce useful products to buyers and earn commission from completed sales.
The Trina Shoppy Commission Seller Programme gives people in Kenya, including young people building their first income stream, a way to promote selected products without buying stock first. Follow the official Trina Shoppy WhatsApp Channel to see fresh product photos, descriptions, prices and commission opportunities shared daily.
How commission selling works
- Register for the programme for free.
- Follow the Trina Shoppy WhatsApp Channel for daily product opportunities.
- Share selected items through WhatsApp Status, Facebook, TikTok and other channels.
- Refer interested customers to Trina Shoppy using your registered contact details.
- Earn the stated commission after an attributed order is paid for, delivered and completed.
What you need to begin
You need a reliable phone, access to WhatsApp or social media, clear communication and the discipline to post consistently. A physical shop is not required, and commission sellers do not need to purchase stock before promoting selected items.
How to promote products responsibly
Use only current photos, descriptions, prices and availability supplied by Trina Shoppy. Do not alter prices, promise unavailable colours or sizes, collect customer payments without authorization, or make guarantees that Trina Shoppy has not approved.
How much can a commission seller earn?
Selected products may pay commission of up to KSh 1,000 per successfully completed sale. The exact amount varies by item and will be communicated with the product information. Cancelled, returned, fraudulent, duplicate or unattributed orders do not qualify. Income is not guaranteed and depends on effort, demand and successful sales.
Products you may be able to promote
Opportunities may include wedding hats, fascinators, men’s suits, shirts, ties, formal shoes, ladies’ handbags, travel bags, shoes, wedding accessories and other selected Trina Shoppy products.
Commission selling and wholesale reselling are different
A commission seller promotes selected stock without purchasing it and earns an announced commission on eligible completed orders. A wholesale reseller buys two or more qualifying items at a wholesale price and chooses their own retail approach. Participants can begin with commission selling and explore wholesale reselling later.

Your first week: a manageable selling experiment
Start by finding out whether one product solves a real need for people you can reach. You do not need paid advertising for this first experiment.
- Day 1: Confirm the item commission, referral process, official payment route, payout timing and return rules. Keep the programme terms; this article does not replace them.
- Day 2: Choose one audience and three products you can explain accurately. Wedding guests, for example, may need hats or fascinators; they do not need every product in your catalogue.
- Day 3: Prepare posts using approved photos, current prices and confirmed availability. Explain the occasion, fit or fastening details and the next step.
- Day 4: Answer enquiries, reconfirm stock and record referrals through the approved process.
- Day 5: Follow up once with useful information. Respect anyone who declines; do not repeatedly message people without consent.
- Day 6: Reconcile enquiries, paid orders, completed deliveries and eligible commission separately.
- Day 7: Review where buyers stopped. Change one thing next week: the product, audience or explanation.
A useful product post
Replace every bracket with information confirmed by Trina Shoppy:
Preparing for a church service or wedding? This [product] is available in [confirmed colour] at KSh [current price]. Check [size or fastening] before ordering. Tell me your occasion and preferred colour so I can confirm stock and help record your referral. Payment and delivery follow Trina Shoppy’s official instructions.
Do not claim “only two left”, “today only” or a former price unless the business has confirmed it. Do not present supplier images as photos you took yourself.
Customer replies that protect trust
Availability: “Which colour or size do you need? I will check current stock before you pay.”
Delivery: “What delivery area are you in? Trina Shoppy will confirm the charge and arrangement before you commit.” Ask for the area first, not an unnecessary full address. Never promise same-day delivery without approval for that order.
Hesitation: “Is your main concern fit, price or delivery? I can help clarify it.”
Unavailable item: Explain promptly and offer only confirmed alternatives. An honest answer protects your reputation better than accepting an order you cannot fulfil.
Your referral tracker
Use a notebook or spreadsheet with columns for enquiry date, product, buyer reference, referral confirmation, order status, expected commission, commission paid and your selling costs. Use initials or a reference where possible; do not store payment credentials or unnecessary identity information.
Suggested statuses: enquiry, awaiting stock confirmation, referred, paid, delivered, cancelled or returned, and commission reconciled. Several WhatsApp conversations about one item can otherwise be difficult to reconcile.
Worked example: commission is not take-home income
Illustrative example, not promised earnings: assume KSh 500 commission per eligible order. Five referrals lead to three completed eligible sales, one cancellation and one unresolved delivery. Commission on the completed sales is 3 × KSh 500 = KSh 1,500. After KSh 200 for data and KSh 100 for other selling costs, KSh 1,200 remains. Do not count the unresolved order as paid commission.
Results may be zero. Confirm actual rates and payout rules with the programme; keep records of payments and costs.
If nobody buys, diagnose the problem
Views without questions may mean the product or explanation is not relevant. Enquiries without orders may point to fit, price, delivery cost, stock or trust. Ask interested people what held them back instead of simply posting more often.
Measure serious enquiries and completed orders, not likes alone. Do not buy ads until you understand the audience and can afford the risk. Stop an experiment that consistently costs more than it earns.
Before referring an order
- Reconfirm size, colour and stock.
- Clarify the total price and delivery charge.
- Record the referral through the approved route.
- Give official payment instructions and identify who fulfils the order.
- Avoid unsupported earnings, quality or delivery promises.
